We're back in business!!

Sorry for the several week delay in posts. Inevitably, things break when Jeremiah is gone, so of course the hard drive on my Mac crashed a few days after he left. After much research and help from Sam, I finally bought a new Sony laptop yesterday. I'm sad not to have another Mac, but our Sony video camera is not compatible with the Mac and I want to post videos for Jeremiah to see how Alex is growing and changing.

Here's a link to the first video. I took it last week when he was 10 weeks. It's amazing looking back...he's already grown and developed so much in the last week!!

2 Months Old!

Alex went to the pediatrician today for his 2 month visit and his first round of immunizations. He was great for his office visit and completely behaved himself. He weighed 13 pounds, 8 ounces (90+%) and measured 23 3/4 inches long (50%). He sure is growing fast!! He had three shots in his chubby little thighs and he definitely let out some screams with them! I have to say though he was pretty strong through it. I was proud of him!

He has been really sleepy all afternoon after the shots. He spent most of the day sleeping on MiMi or I. He also got his first dose of Tylenol today. Here he is sitting in the Bumbo chair (he's still not quite sure what to think of it!) for the Tylenol.

Doesn't he look like such a big guy???

Alex's First Trip

The weekend before Jeremiah left for Iraq, we decided to take a quick trip down to Seaside, Florida. It was our first time to visit Seaside and we fell in love! The beach was gorgeous and it was the perfect time of year to be there. The water was still a great temperature, but there weren't too many people on the beach.

Alex did great on his first car trip. It took us about 4 hours to get there. He slept 3 hours and then cried the other 1 hour, but atleast it wasn't the other way around! He also got to experience the sand, the ocean, and even a swimming pool. I think most of the trip he was looking at us both going, "You two are the crazy parents ever! How'd I get stuck with ya'll???" But I guess it's better that he figures that out now rather than when he's 13, huh?

Alex wasn't real sure about the ocean. He did not cry, but he got a bit of a grumpy face. His daddy did let a wave splash him in the face, so that might have made me grumpy too! He seemed to like the pool. He really enjoyed Daddy moving him all around like he was a big boy swimming.

Here are a few of the pictures from our trip. We can't wait to go back!

Saying Goodbye...

This morning, Alex and I said goodbye to Jeremiah. We all woke up at 3 AM to take him to post. Jeremiah had to do a few things before they boarded buses at 5:45 to head to the airfield. Alex and I got to spend a little time with him and say our goodbyes. Then we watched the buses head off before we came back home to start our new life.

It was very hard to say goodbye and it will be a long year without him. I have to remember though that it was even harder for him to have to say goodbye to Alex. We love him so much and we are so proud of him for serving his country and being the soldier he has always wanted to be!

I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of our friends and family for their love, support, and prayers as we start this deployment. It means so much to our family. We feel so fortunate to have so many wonderful people in our lives.
